The area sorounding Santiago, Chile

The mornings here are quiet... too quiet....

Santiago, Chile is by far one of the most relaxing cities I have ever seen. Despite its huge population of about 7 million people, the days can be pretty quiet. This is also surprising considering how many people you can see walking around the area. But the area wasn´t always that big. only 20 years ago the population was closer to 3.5 million. This change in population is probably due to the ever beautiful views of the Andes mountains just outside the city, the impecably beautiful streets, and its distinctive culture. Although situated in a very
desert like climate, Santiago is full of life. This is seen in the many beautiful trees and flowers positioned all over the city. this beaity makes it a little slice of paradise. extremely close to the hotel we are in is the Mapocho River. It´s waters run from th mountains straight through the city. now, if you love the river Charles, this river might be for you. the Mapacho River is a ruddy brown color in the summer months due to sediment from the mountains being carried off from the melting ice on the mountains. in the colder months, the water becomes clearer.

If rivers aren´t for you, then maybe some of the local parks are better for you. I´d like to warn you though, the locals tend to be more okay with expressing their love in public. you can see couples lined up laying in the grass pretty much everywhere. It creates a perfecly romantic time under the long shadows of the trees. so I would reccomend bringing a date to the park next time you have the chance to visit.

The shopping here is also really good. nearby there is a mall and pretty much anything you could possibly need is only a couple blocks away at most. I´ve already stocked up on gifts for back home! the local restauraunts also serve some of the best food around. There are plenty of great places to go for dinner including the local Irish pubs, Sushi bars, Italian restaurants, and many others.
