A Day at La Playa de Reñaca

Just a short drive away from Valparaiso lies yet another Chilean paradise waiting to be explored: Viña del Mar. As we approached the city, we were greeted by clear skies, the Pacific coastline, and the sprawling hillside that overlooks it.

Although Vina del Mar is renowned for its abundance of beauty and beaches, there is one beach that stands above the rest. La Playa de Reñaca is not only the largest, but also the most popular beach in the city.

La Playa de Reñaca is the perfect combination of sophistication and serenity. Although simply viewing the beauty of its landscape is breathtaking, there are a plethora of ways one can further appreciate all La Playa de Reñaca has to offer.

Surrounding the coast are places to unwind and fully take in the atmosphere. Cafés, juice bars, and stores offer a chance to refresh and delve deeper into the culture of the city itself. Indeed,  many Bryant students took full advantage of this opportunities while at La Playa de Reñaca.

While back in the U.S, many of our homes have been bombarded with snow, we spent our January 10th with our toes in the sand, soaking up the summer sun and fully enjoying the 80 degree weather. Thrilled to be at such a beautiful beach, I am confident that each and every one of us fully appreciated and enjoyed every minute spent there. (After applying sunscreen of course!)

Although most of us were content to simply relax and get some sun, there were a few courageous students who were brave enough to walk in the sea. Despite the heat, the ocean was surprisingly cold, and the waves a little choppy.

Back in the sand, there was no lack of music, conversation, and snacks. We had an amazing opportunity to further bond as a group, and we definitely took full advantage of it. In fact, many students gathered in a circle and practiced their  futból skills.

The afternoon we spent at Playa de Reñaca was full of sun, sea, and relaxation. It was the perfect way for us to experience the beauty of Viña del Mar and the Northwest coast of Chile.
